Railfan-dom was treated to several exciting photo opportunities during 2012 and 2013. A high degree of advanced planning and coordination typically went in to making those staged events highly successful and well documented. However, the attention here focuses on those rather personally satisfying moments, which occur spontaneously and without fanfare. Where success is determined as much by luck as it is by skill and talent.
