Motive Power availability has become an important issue in recent months. Consequently, BNSF power has been used on a few midwestern trains to augment the Amtrak motive power fleet. For example, BNSF 4967 is seen here at Winona, Wisconsin on 2/6/2011. A Shane Darst photograph.

These units have the GPS based equipment needed to run at "high speed" on the Amtrak owned line through Southwestern Lower Michigan.

-Most E60s have been derated to 5200 or 4100 HP. -18 high-speed trainsets on order. -60 F40Hs may be rebuilt for continued service.
